Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and attended by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Member of the Dubai Council, the winners of the ninth Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award were celebrated in an official ceremony organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library.

This latest edition reinforces the UAE’s dedication to advancing the Arabic language as a cornerstone of cultural identity and heritage. It embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to empower the Arabic language and amplify its global influence.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed expressed that the Arabic language carries an enduring legacy of knowledge and elegance, serving as both the voice of heritage and the language of the future. She highlighted that the Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to preserving linguistic heritage in a rapidly evolving digital and intellectual era. She further noted that such Dubai-based initiatives strengthen global appreciation for Arabic, presenting it not only as a language but also as a powerful cultural and innovative bridge.

Her Highness also conveyed pride in the exceptional quality of submissions this year, emphasizing the expanding international recognition the Award continues to achieve. She remarked that the celebration exemplifies a shared acknowledgment of Arabic as a timeless civilisational link uniting generations.

His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award, reaffirmed that the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award embodies Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s aspiration to strengthen the Arabic language globally. He described it as a strategic framework that promotes innovation and excellence across areas such as education, technology, media, and language policy.

He added that since its launch, the Award has aimed to recognize innovation and creativity that enhance the Arabic language. The ninth edition maintains this mission, showcasing entries that demonstrate significant global impact and increasing interest in Arabic studies.

His Excellency Bilal Al Budoor, Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award, highlighted the outstanding international engagement this year, demonstrating an expanding awareness of Arabic’s importance as a cultural and intellectual connector. Submissions were received from 65 countries, reinforcing the Award’s role as a global platform for advocates of the Arabic language. Each contribution, he said, reflects a genuine commitment to preserving Arabic and advancing its influence within the future knowledge society.

– Best method for teaching Arabic in early education: Anisa Alif (UAE)
– Best initiative for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers: Faseeh Center for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers (Jordan)
– Best initiative for teaching Arabic in school education (Grades 1–12): Abjadiyat (UAE)

Technology Category:
– Best initiative using social media or smart applications for learning and promoting Arabic: Ataalam app (Lebanon)
– Best initiative for developing and publishing Arabic digital content or language processing tools: Arabee Tools (software tools for Arabic in Python and Java) (Palestine)

Media and Communication Category:
– Best work in Arabic language across electronic and social media: Majarra app (UAE)

Linguistic Policy, Planning, and Arabisation Category:
– Best project in localisation or translation: Translation of the book ‘Good Governance of Antimicrobial Use’ (Egypt)

Culture, Knowledge, and Society Category:
– Best cultural, artistic, or intellectual contribution to the Arabic language: ‘Student Behaviour Management Plays (Values and Principles)’ (Oman)
– Best initiative promoting reading culture and knowledge exchange: Arabian Days Festival (Ayyam Arabia) (UAE)
– Distinguished Global Personality Award: Adiba Romero Sánchez (Spain)

This year’s edition attracted participants from 65 countries, representing both institutions and individuals. The Education category received the highest number of entries, underscoring the global emphasis on Arabic language learning and teaching.

The Award’s total prize value of AED 2.8 million (USD 770,000) was distributed among winners across various categories to inspire innovation and encourage excellence in Arabic language-related projects.

Since its inception, more than 80 recipients worldwide have been recognized for their contributions, fostering a vibrant ecosystem that supports sustainable and creative language initiatives.

Through this award, Dubai continues to affirm its status as a global hub for cultural advancement and intellectual exchange. Guided by its visionary leadership, the city remains a key centre for projects that elevate Arabic as a language of innovation, progress, and sustainable cultural development.
