Dubai’s coastal security receives a fresh boost following the inspection of the Ports Police Station by His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, who introduced a range of strategic safety initiatives, Xpats.ae reported.
Among the key highlights of the visit was the introduction of newly established beach patrol units designed to respond swiftly to reports along the city’s popular shorelines and enhance service quality for residents and visitors. Engaging the youth was also a key focus, as Dubai Police announced a summer training programme allowing school students to gain practical experience using marine rescue and lifeguarding equipment, nurturing early interest in public service and maritime safety.
Lieutenant General Al Marri encouraged community participation in safeguarding Dubai’s maritime spaces during large-scale events. Through official volunteer programmes, citizens will receive training in rescue operations and emergency response, further reinforcing collaboration between the community and law enforcement while strengthening Dubai’s comprehensive security framework.
Maritime Preparedness and Accomplishments
During the inspection, Lieutenant General Al Marri evaluated the station’s fleet of boats and jet skis to ensure operational readiness for rescue missions and emergency responses. He also reviewed the previous year’s achievements, including the successful management of over 100 maritime events and championships across 12 sea zones and 7 land jurisdictions — showcasing the extensive efforts invested in ensuring safety along Dubai’s coastal and beach areas.
Global Sporting Presence
The Ports Police Station’s contributions extend beyond law enforcement duties. Its teams actively participate in local and international sports competitions, consistently earning numerous medals. Lieutenant General Al Marri praised these accomplishments as a reflection of the professionalism, dedication, and growing expertise of Dubai Police personnel.
Innovation and Future Projects
Looking toward the future, Dubai Police continues to align its strategic plans with the Dubai Urban Plan 2040. One of the standout projects is “Haddad,” an eco-friendly, self-driven smart police boat equipped with remote-control functions, advanced visual analytics, and integrated monitoring systems. The project exemplifies sustainable innovation in maritime security, supporting Dubai’s long-term goal of reducing carbon emissions while maximizing patrol capability and efficiency.
Commitment to a Safer Tomorrow
Lieutenant General Al Marri emphasized that as Dubai progresses rapidly, its security measures must evolve in parallel. He commended the Ports Police Station as a crucial link within the city’s network, covering multiple beaches and offering vital services to both residents and tourists. The visit was attended by several senior police officials, including Major General Hareb Al Shamsi, Major General Eid Hareb, Brigadier Majid Al Suwaidi, Brigadier Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saba, Brigadier Saeed Al Madhani, Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail, Brigadier Ahmad Al Muhairi, and Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Abdulrazzaq Abdulrahim, among others.
Concluding his tour, Lieutenant General Al Marri encouraged all police teams to maintain unity and enhance operational performance, reaffirming that Dubai’s leadership provides steadfast support to ensure world-class maritime security and to uphold the emirate’s reputation as one of the safest coastal destinations globally.
