At the 45th edition of GITEX Global 2025, a pioneering suite of consular services specifically designed for UAE Golden Visa holders was officially introduced, marking a world-first initiative. The announcement was part of a joint effort between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), showcasing the UAE’s dedication to innovation in citizen and resident services, according to Xpats.ae.

The launch ceremony was attended by Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. Senior officials, team members from both institutions, and visitors to the international technology exhibition also took part in the event, reflecting its importance on the global stage.

This initiative aligns with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who designated 2025 as the “Year of Community” under the theme “Hand in Hand.” The program embodies the UAE leadership’s continuous effort to cultivate a united and thriving society. It further reinforces the government’s ongoing commitment to delivering integrated and innovative service frameworks that improve efficiency, enhance inter-agency cooperation, and strengthen the country’s global appeal to investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals eager to contribute to the UAE’s sustainable development and progress.

During the launch, Omar Obaid Alshamsi highlighted that this initiative underscores the leadership’s commitment to maintaining the UAE’s position as one of the most attractive destinations for global talent. He explained that the collaboration between MoFA and ICP creates a unified platform that streamlines processes and extends comprehensive support to Golden Visa holders both domestically and internationally, bolstering the UAE’s reputation as a hub for investment, innovation, and excellence.

Major General Suhail Al Khaili remarked that the rollout of these new services marks a significant milestone in government service integration focused on improving people’s lives. He stated that, in partnership with MoFA, the Authority continues to develop advanced, smart solutions to meet the evolving requirements of Golden Visa holders. These initiatives, he added, embody the UAE’s leadership directives to empower exceptional residents by creating a safe, supportive, and progressive environment aligned with the nation’s values of inclusivity and humanity.

The newly introduced consular services for Golden Visa holders and their families include issuing electronic return documents in cases of lost or damaged passports abroad and providing a dedicated hotline for direct communication and assistance. The comprehensive package also features emergency and crisis response support through MoFA’s 24/7 call centre at 0097124931133, ensuring instant help in urgent situations.

In line with the UAE’s long-standing humanitarian principles, the scope of emergency and crisis management services—previously reserved for Emirati citizens—has now been extended to Golden Visa holders. This expansion guarantees full assistance and protection in any situation. Additionally, the service includes the repatriation of deceased Golden Visa holders’ remains from abroad, coordinated with health and official authorities, to simplify procedures and ease the burdens faced by grieving families.
