His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the 45th edition of GITEX GLOBAL, recognized as the largest global exhibition for technology and artificial intelligence. The event, organized at the Dubai World Trade Centre, will run until 17 October, drawing innovators, companies, and digital pioneers from around the globe.
Accompanying His Highness were His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai. During his remarks, His Highness emphasized that the UAE continues to advance its development strategy through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to build a robust digital economy supported by strategic investments in future-focused industries.
Highlighting the country’s digital ambitions, His Highness stated: “Our goal is for the UAE to serve as a global benchmark in creating an integrated digital economy driven by innovation, knowledge, and artificial intelligence. We aim to position Dubai as an international platform accelerating technological and economic transformation. Our vision seeks to increase the annual contribution of digital transformation to Dubai’s economy to AED100 billion by 2033, and we are advancing confidently toward realizing that target.”
Commenting on the importance of GITEX GLOBAL, Sheikh Mohammed noted: “We welcome more than 6,800 technology firms and 2,000 startups from 180 nations to this landmark event, which has evolved into the world’s foremost meeting point for tech innovators. It offers a fertile ground for collaboration, nurturing partnerships that accelerate digital growth and lay down the foundations for sustainable prosperity across generations.” He stressed that GITEX has transcended its role as a conventional technology gathering to become a global movement that embodies the UAE’s resolve to lead transformation, convert challenges into opportunities, and forge international collaborations reinforcing the country’s position within the global digital economy.
During his tour, His Highness and his delegation explored multiple pavilions presenting cutting-edge advancements in AI, quantum computing, cloud technologies, and other emerging fields. Major international corporations such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), e&, G42, Huawei, IBM, Microsoft, and Oracle showcased their latest innovations contributing to digital transformation across industries. Sheikh Mohammed also visited several key international and national pavilions, including those representing Cisco Systems, Siemens, and the European Innovation Council, where he engaged with 15 innovative firms pursuing strategic partnerships in digital and sustainable technologies.
His Highness later visited the e& pavilion, where he viewed a range of futuristic technologies such as flying cars, electric air taxis (eVTOLs), AI-driven autonomous vehicles, and advanced robotics. He also toured displays by the General Directorate for Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and the Community Development Authority, which showcased AI-powered and smart service solutions reinforcing Dubai’s stature as a leading smart and inclusive global city.
Marking its 45th edition, GITEX GLOBAL 2025 focuses on developing AI infrastructure, fostering global innovation, and advancing policy discussions that ensure responsible and sustainable technological growth. The exhibition presents a comprehensive program of conferences, expert panels, and live demonstrations that encourage cross-sector collaboration and support visionary leadership in technology.
