H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has underscored the importance of full participation from all Sharjah residents in the upcoming “Sharjah Census 2025.” The initiative, scheduled to commence on October 15 and continue through December 31, aims to gather detailed demographic and socioeconomic data to guide decision-making processes that reflect the needs and aspirations of residents.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan urged every resident to promptly register their information, assuring that all collected data will remain entirely confidential. He emphasized that this census is a means for residents to communicate directly with him, as the results help shape policies that improve the quality of life across the emirate. The Ruler also warned that neglecting to submit data could result in forfeiting certain rights linked to future developmental benefits.

During his address on the “Direct Line” programme broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television, His Highness elaborated on the vital role of the Sharjah Census, noting that it concerns every individual living in the emirate. He acknowledged that some may underestimate its significance, but stressed that accurate and comprehensive data collection is essential to understanding residents’ living conditions and developing effective strategies to enhance their well-being.

The Ruler of Sharjah instructed staff involved in the census to collect detailed information specific to each community, such as household composition, living standards, housing types, and income levels. He reiterated that the accuracy of collected information directly impacts the success of decisions designed to uplift the community. His Highness reminded residents that the census serves not only as a data collection process but also as a channel for residents to express their needs, allowing the government to respond effectively through evidence-based planning and social initiatives.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan further clarified that all data gathered through the census is treated with utmost confidentiality and is not publicly released. Access is strictly limited and subject to his direction, particularly when a specific department, such as the Social Services Department, needs to address individual or community matters. He stated, “When I request information to address an issue, the department head must present my order, allowing them to review only the relevant details.”

His Highness also reiterated that the census creates a direct connection between him and the people of Sharjah, enabling him to understand their challenges and provide support where needed. Referencing previous census outcomes, he noted that the data helped raise the emirate’s minimum standard of living for families to AED 17,500, supported the establishment of new housing areas, developed public amenities, and expanded employment opportunities. He encouraged residents to be transparent about their living circumstances so that their needs can be properly addressed through this initiative.

The Ruler further appealed to residents to cooperate with census staff by promptly providing their information. He explained that each area has a specific data collection period, and delays or refusals to participate could result in incomplete records — which in turn limits residents’ ability to benefit from future programs based on the data submitted. “If someone fails to provide their data, they are denying themselves a right that is meant to help them,” His Highness stated.

In conclusion, Sheikh Dr. Sultan offered financial guidance to families, advising residents to manage their spending wisely, prioritize essential needs, and avoid accumulating unnecessary debt through luxury purchases. He emphasized that financial prudence ensures long-term security and family stability. Expressing optimism, he said he hopes the Sharjah Census 2025 will bring positive outcomes and prosperity to the people of Sharjah.
